Location Map
The Location Map module displays locations on an interactive Google Map. It works for event venues, store locators, offices and partner networks. Locations are a dedicated record type with name, address, description, image and GPS coordinates.
Markers are clustered automatically, and a click opens an info window with details. “Show all locations” zooms the map to fit all markers. Deep links make it possible to link directly to a specific location from other pages.
Note: The module currently always shows all locations stored in the storage folder. Filtering or manual selection of individual locations isn’t possible yet. We’re extending this feature in the future.
Frequently asked questions about the Location Map
Yes. Like most corekit modules, the Location Map has a built-in intro with headline, subline, rich text intro and alignment option, fully configurable in the plugin’s FlexForm.
The module requires a valid Google Maps API key. The key is stored in the corekit configuration in the backend. If the key is missing, the module shows an error message instead of the map.
Google Maps only loads once the user has given consent for statistics cookies. Before that, the map shows a consent placeholder with an explanatory text and an accept button. After consent, the map loads automatically.
Every marker is directly addressable via a URL hash, e.g. #marker-42. If someone opens the page with this hash, the map automatically zooms to the matching marker and opens its info window. This allows linking directly from other pages or emails to specific locations.
If the user has zoomed into a marker or panned the map, the button resets the view and automatically zooms out enough so that all markers are visible at once.
The info window contains the name, address, optional image (96Ă—96 avatar) and the description as rich text. The description allows links and is limited to three lines to keep the window compact.
When multiple markers are close together, they are automatically grouped into a cluster. Clicking zooms into the cluster and breaks it into the individual markers. The cluster threshold is a radius of 75 pixels and a max zoom of 16.
Each location has a name, address, description (rich text), image and GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude). The data is maintained in the dedicated record type tx_pncorekit_domain_model_location and can be used independently of events or other modules.
The module currently always shows all locations in the configured storage folder. Filtering, manual selection of individual locations or categorisation aren’t possible yet. We will expand the module in the future. Planned features include categories, filters and manual selection.
